We all need a haven from time to time; somewhere to regain our stability. Holistic massage can provide that space.
So What Style of Massage Will Suit Me?
Within Massage Therapy - there is a vast array of styles and techniques, so once you decide that Massage Therapy is right for you - what style of massage do you go for?
As you can see I offer a number of Massage Therapies at Back to Touch, and appreciate that knowing what to expect before you arrive can ease any anxiety about the treatment.
All styles of massage manipulate the body's connective and soft tissue, increases circulation and blood flow to the areas being worked, easing tension and promoting the body's own physical and psychological healing process. The pressure used depends upon your needs and can be applied in varying levels, the amount of pressure you require may change from session to session, and will be discussed before each treatment.
Below is a general overview as to what to expect from each style of massage offered at Back to Touch.
For Relaxation, try Swedish, deeper tissue, connective tissue, pregnancy or Thai bodywork. Although most people gain a sense of relaxation after any form of massage - these styles promote relaxation in particular... With Thai stretches integrating breath-work into the mix - clients find this helps them let go and relax more than they thought. Fascial Unwinding is also a deeply relaxing therapy, gently moving limbs and the body to literally unwind the fascial tissue.
For Injuries or particular Area of Tension which have built up over time try sports, remedial, connective tissue, Thai bodywork, assisted stretching or deeper tissue massage. The aim of these massage modalities is to assist the body's natural healing processes, assist the 'injured area' to gain fresh blood flow, remove toxins and excess fluid, reduce inflammation, mobility and flexibility. Over time and with additional exercises between treatments muscles can be rebalanced improving posture, strength and core stability. Sports massage can be quite vigorous depending on your requirements and very invigorating.
For Emotional Release and Healing, holistic pulsing can connect body, mind and emotions (spirit), working on all levels this therapy often leaves people feeling very clear on all levels. The gentler movement therapy - fascial unwinding - many find helps to reconnect body and mind. Often the subtle and delicate movements also work on the energetic systems at the same time - promoting inner healing and calm. Deeper tissue massage assists in releasing deeply held tension stored and / or emotional issues stored in the body. Often when we have a recurrent emotion - our bodies will response in a physical action and over time this response creates a deep-seated tension pattern which when released assists to release the emotion held within it.
As you can see there is a cross-over with one style of therapy being good for a number of things. This cross-over effect means that each massage can be tailored to your precise needs.
All in all, getting any form of massage is a fantastic way of acknowledging and honoring your body, and you are sure to benefit from whatever type you choose.
